Elder of FireA curandera (healer) squats on the earth in front of an altar honoring the ancestors during Los Días de los Muertos — the Days of the Dead. She holds a handful of burning herbs that direct waves of energy to dissipate the foul and bring in the sweet. She lives in la época del mito (the Otherworld, the time of myth) as much — or more — as she does in the world of consensual reality. Her gaze, directed at the viewer, is potent and challenging. Her ally is the iguana, who brings the medicine of the dreamtime. The Elder of Fire reminds us to open up to the Otherworld, the world of energy patterns and spirits and Invisibles. When we shift our inner reality, our outer reality shifts as well. Please leave comments here about the Elder of Fire, or read what others have said. > > > Shop for a print of the Elder of Fire. |

Elder of WaterA fisherman rows his boat out into the sound just before sunrise on Summer Solstice. It's an inbetween time and place: between night and day, between shore and sea. What secrets does the breeze at dawn have to tell? Please leave comments here about the Elder of Water, or read what others have said. > > > Shop for a print of the Elder of Water. |

Elder of EarthA woman sits in her lush autumnal garden, spinning wool into yarn that will eventually become sweaters, scarves and hats for the winter to come. Sister Deer comes to visit and munch on the windfall apples, but pauses to gaze at the viewer, as if to say: And what are you doing in my back yard? As we gaze as the Elder of Earth, we are reminded of the Three Fates: She Who Spins, She Who Weaves, and She Who Cuts the thread of life. She will play each of those roles in turn, but as for today, she spins. Please leave comments here about the Elder of Earth, or read what others have said |
